An Evening of Intention: A Healing Chanting Circle for White Rock Lake

White Rock Lake is more than just a body of water—it’s the beating heart of East Dallas, a sanctuary for nature lovers, athletes, and anyone seeking a moment of peace. Yet, our urban oasis is not without its burdens. From water quality concerns due to upstream events, ongoing issues with invasive species, to the everyday impact of city life, our beloved lake needs our collective care and intention.

This coming Saturday October 18, 2025 at 6:00 PM CST, let’s join together with Join Zara Monrroy and members of Earth Centered Spirituality at The First Unitarian Church Of Dallas for a chanting circle to heal and honor White Rock Lake. We will meet at 2998 White Roack Road Dallas, TX 75214. Join Zara Monrroy and members of ECS for a chanting circle to heal and honor White Rock Lake. Why Chanting? Why Now?

The power of sound and collective energy is undeniable. For millennia, communities have used sacred sound to focus their intentions and send ripples of positive energy out into the world.

Our intention for this gathering is threefold:

  1. To Honor the Lake: To acknowledge White Rock Lake’s tireless role in our city—providing a habitat for wildlife, a place for recreation, and a beautiful urban backdrop. We will offer our gratitude for its steadfast presence.
  2. To Focus Healing Energy: To send positive vibrations into the water, the soil, and the air, supporting the lake’s ecological health. We are focusing our collective will for clearer waters, balanced ecosystems, and the well-being of its plant and animal life.
  3. To Unify Our Community: To create a circle of like-minded individuals who are passionate about conservation and community care. We are stronger and our intentions are amplified when we come together.

Recent news has highlighted the persistent challenges facing White Rock Lake, including:

  • Water Quality Issues: Periodic sewage overflows impacting White Rock Creek, which feeds the lake, leading to elevated bacteria levels.
  • Invasive Species: The detection and management of highly toxic plants like water hemlock near the shoreline, which poses a danger to people and pets.
  • Sedimentation and Debris: The ongoing need for dredging and clean-up efforts to manage silt and debris that flows into the lake.

While there are many wonderful organizations and city efforts working on the physical clean-up, this is a chance for the community to contribute on an energetic level. We will hold a vision for the lake as a vibrant, healthy, and protected space for all.

A Call to Action Beyond the Circle

The chanting circle is a powerful start, but true healing requires continuous action. We encourage everyone who attends to also consider physical stewardship:

  • Volunteer: Support groups like the White Rock Lake Conservancy in their clean-up and restoration projects. (Keep an eye out for the next Second Saturday clean-up!) Support Friends of White Rock Lake.
  • Advocate: Stay informed and engage with local officials regarding upstream water quality and infrastructure.
  • Be a Conscious Visitor: Always keep pets leashed and away from shoreline vegetation, follow all park ordinances, and pack out everything you pack in.

Let the energy we raise on Saturday evening be a spark that ignites a deeper, long-lasting commitment to the jewel of Dallas. Come share your voice, your peace, and your hope for White Rock Lake.
