Autumn is a profound time in the cycle of Earth-Centered practices. The natural world is changing all around us, and the veil between worlds is nearing its thinnest point. Come join us this month as we explore this potent magic, connecting with our inner selves and the powerful energy of the season.
This schedule outlines a series of events focused on Indigenous wisdom, Mexican culture, community connection, and Earth-centered spirituality from October 17th through November 1st.
Event Summary
Indigenous Wisdom & Healing
- We Are One with Mother Earth with Zara Monrroy (Fri, Oct 17, 6–7:30 pm): An evening with Zara Monrroy, an activist, poet, and musician from the Comcaác Nation of Sonora, Mexico. The event will explore the wisdom of Mother Earth through storytelling and traditional medicine songs in the Seri language. Registration is required.
- Chanting & Healing for White Rock Lake (Sat, Oct 18, 6 pm): Join Zara Monrroy and community members for a chanting circle at White Rock Lake to heal and honor the water. Attendees should bring a blanket/mat and an optional percussion instrument.
Día de Muertos Celebrations
- Día de Muertos Exhibit Visit (Sat, Oct 18, 5 pm): A group visit to the free Día de Muertos art exhibit at the Bathhouse Cultural Center, followed by the lake ceremony.
- Coffee & Connection (Sun, Oct 19, 10–10:45 am): A relaxed morning exploring the meaning of Día de Muertos, pulling an oracle card, and discussing volunteer opportunities. RSVP is requested.
- 💀 Día de Muertos Potluck, Art Display & Celebration (Sat, Nov 1, 5–8 pm): The main celebration featuring a Potluck Dinner (honoring a loved one/local Mexican restaurant), a Community Art Display with a collective altar/ofrenda, a Live Mariachi Band, and Copal Blessings in honor of ancestors. This is a pay-what-you-can event.
Community & Music
- Singing & Chanting Circle – Introductory Meeting (Sat, Oct 25, 3 pm): An introductory meeting for a new group that will bring music and sacred sound to seasonal gatherings, starting with Día de Muertos. No experience is needed. Sign-up is required to get location details.
