Building Belonging: My Journey as a 4th and 5th Grade Sunday Circles Guide

I am deeply humbled and incredibly excited to begin serving tomorrow, September 13, 2026, as a Children’s Sunday Circles Guide for the 4th and 5th-grade Soul Matters “Building Belonging” curriculum at the First Unitarian Church of Dallas.

Stepping into this role feels like a profound calling. At this vital stage of development, fourth and fifth graders are navigating the delicate, beautiful intersection of who they are and how they fit into the wider world. They are beginning to ask bigger questions about community, empathy, and their own agency. Through the lens of Soul Matters and the intentional framework of “Building Belonging,” our circle will be a space where every child knows they are not just welcomed, but truly needed.

Unitarian Universalism has always championed the inherent worth and dignity of every person, and fostering that truth in young minds is both a sacred trust and an immense joy. I look forward to listening to their insights, laughing together, and exploring how we build a circle of compassion that extends far beyond the walls of our classroom.

To the families, staff, and community at First Unitarian Church of Dallas: thank you for this opportunity. I am ready to learn right alongside our amazing fourth and fifth graders as we build belonging together this year.
