As the golden light of late September begins to stretch and soften across North Texas, the Earth Centered Spirituality Group at The First Unitarian Church of Dallas invites the community to mark a sacred moment of equilibrium On Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 5:00 PM CST, members and seekers alike will gather for their annual Autumn Equinox Potluck & Celebration stepping away from the rush of the everyday to honor the delicate tipping point where day and night finally hold equal weight.
Held on the church grounds at 4015 Normandy Avenue Dallas, TX this seasonal ritual embraces the spirit of Mabon—a time of deep gratitude for the summer’s harvest, intentional reflection, and graceful preparation for the quiet descent into the darker half of the year. Attendees are encouraged to bring a dish to share for the community potluck, along with a reusable plate and utensil to keep the gathering light on the earth we celebrate.
The Autumn Equinox is approaching to remind us to find balance in our lives and our spirits! With our schedules becoming busier with the start of the school year and the swirl of the final quarter of the year, join us for an opportunity to think about how we can balance that energy with rest, reflection, and connection.
This month’s gathering will have a fun, casual, fall festival energy – families are highly encouraged to attend. Plenty of food and playground time!
There will be no sit-down ceremony at this gathering. We will rotate through activity stations festival-style.
Here’s what to expect from this gathering:
The potluck will take place in Channing Social Hall, followed by a festival-style gathering in the Courtyard.
Incorporate fall fruits and vegetables into your potluck dishes – apples, pumpkin, wheat, grain, berries, etc. (Or just pick up a pizza if you’re short on time – always a hit with the kids!)
Please bring fall leaves (if you can find them!) – We will be using fall leaves for our crafts and for our leaf burning ritual.
Fall crafts and activities – We will pull oracle cards, meditate with sound, have sack races, and make leaf crowns and fall garlands.
Leaf burning ritual – We will write our intentions for the final months of the year on leaves and burn the leaves to put those intentions into motion.
Musicians – We will be having a mini-Irish traditional music session and other musicians are welcome to bring your instruments and a few songs to play around the fire!
This monthly event is open to individuals of all backgrounds and beliefs who wish to come together in reverence for nature and community.
🍁 Volunteers needed! This is an all-hands-on-deck, community event. We need volunteers for each station. Volunteers will rotate so that everyone has a chance to participate in all activities
